Intro to Skijoring - In Person (Feb 1)

Come and learn about this fun team sport with your dog! Work on putting it all together! Bring your gear, learn groundwork, drills, how to get started with cues, how to teach your dog to pull, and more! Our webinar is a great prerequisite that goes over all of the required gear, safety, and what to bring. Register for the in person session, and receive the webinar for free! Location: TBD (North or South Glenmore Park, grooming dependent) Time: 10:00am-12:00pm Cost: $75 per person Note that due to recent cold temperatures, our intro session will be moved to an indoor facility if temperatures drop below -15. If time allows we will move outdoors for the end of the class. In the case that we move indoors, the location will be our classroom at 4116 Macleod Trail SE (Paws Next Door). Students will be notified in advance (as the majority of our intro session involves discussions, groundwork & cues, this will not change the course content). Required: Warm gear that you can move in (layers), high value treats (in a fanny pack or accessible location), harness with back clip, canicross belt, bungee leash, hiking boots or winter shoes (for groundwork) Recommended, but not required: Cross country skis, boots & poles (skate or classic, rentals are fine), X-back harness, dog booties, helmet, ski pants As with any group class, rabies and DA2PP vaccines are required. Maximum 4 dogs per session. *Note that while anyone is welcome to attend, it is recommended that you have basic cross country ski skills (skate or classic) before skijoring with your dog. If you want to learn how to ski first, contact us for recommendations! We are not ski instructors nor do we claim to be. We focus more on the dog training aspect of the sport.
