Advanced Skijoring - In Person (Feb 1)

Service Description

Come and build on the skijoring skills you've learned and practiced with your dog! Work on putting it all together with your skis on! Bring your gear, practice the groundwork with distractions, additional drills, learn how to solidify your cues, fade out treat rewards, increase drive to pull, and more! Our webinar and Intro to Skijoring are great prerequisites that goes over all of the required gear, safety, and what to bring. If you have not taken any of our courses but feel like your ski skills and your dog's cues are ready for the advanced class, please contact us before registering! Location: TBD (North or South Glenmore Park, grooming dependent) Time: 1:00pm-2:30pm Cost: $60 per person Note that if temperatures drop below -20 we may postpone or move the lesson - in which case students will be contacted in advance. If the temperatures are between -15 and -20 or above, the class will continue and we may extend the lesson to take breaks to warm up in cars as needed. Required: Warm gear that you can move in (layers), high value treats (in a fanny pack or accessible location), harness with back clip, canicross belt, bungee leash, hiking boots or winter shoes (for groundwork), Cross country skis, boots & poles (skate or classic, rentals are fine) Recommended, but not required: X-back harness, dog booties, helmet, cross country ski pants or warm outdoor pants As with any group class, rabies and DA2PP vaccines are required. Maximum 4 dogs per session. *Note that while anyone is welcome to attend, it is recommended that you have competent cross country ski skills (skate or classic) before skijoring with your dog. If you want to learn how to ski first, contact us for recommendations! We are not ski instructors nor do we claim to be. We focus more on the dog training aspect of the sport.
